Islamabad: A high level meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Interior, Senator A. Rehman Malik in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior, Provincial Home Secretaries and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs). The meeting reviewed law and order and security situation particularly the incident of firing at a bus in Quetta. The Minister for Interior directed the following special measures:
To regulate the visit of Zahireen to Iran. To provide protection to Zahireen from Quetta to Iran. The Chief Secretary and IG Balochistan informed that protection to Zahireen travelling from Quetta to Iran is already being provided.
For the protection of two localities i.e. Mariyabad and Hazara Town, special security measures have been taken.
All passenger transport, i.e. Suzuki Vans and Wagons shall be on road with armed security guards during movement from one point to other.
All busses shall have two armed security guards. Patrolling has been enhanced.
Section 144 shall be imposed with more vigour.
