Islamabad, August 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): A delegation led by Sir Michael Barbar, UK Special Envoy, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning and discussed way and means for the improvement of education structure at government schools in Pakistan.
The delegation was comprised of British High Commissioner Mr. Adam Thomson, Deputy Head of Department for International Development (DFID) Ms Dabbie Palmer and Senior Governance Advisor DFID Mr. Claire Vallings.
Laying stress upon the significance of educating the youth, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan can only be put on the path of progress and prosperity by creating skilled and educated manpower which should be fully equipped to change the destiny of the nation.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized on the improvement of health and education infrastructure in the country. Education and health sectors are faced with myriad problems and a proactive approach is needed to reform them according to the requirements of the 21st century, added the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister appreciated the good work of Sir Michael Barbar for Punjab’s education sector and affirmed to replicate it at the national level.
