90% in Pakistan claim they are registered voters. Gilani Poll/Gallup Pakistan

Karachi: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan 90% in Pakistan claim they are registered voters. It should be noted that the claims may not match reality. But the survey findings do suggest that a very high number of adults in Pakistan perceive themselves to be a registered voter.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Is your vote registered?” Responding to this 90% think that their vote is registered whereas 7% think that their vote is not registered. However 3% did not give a view.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2726 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during December 11 – December 17, 2011. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
