Karachi, September 23, 2016 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that the Road Checking Campaign to nab tax defaulting vehicles is going on in Karachi and all owners of the vehicles are hereby advised in their own interest to deposit their due taxes along with fine to avoid any unpleasant situation. In a briefing about on going drive again tax defaulters, the Minister for E and T was informed that the Road Checking Campaign was launched on 20th September and so far 5285 vehicles had been checked, out of which 43 vehicles of different make had been impounded while documents of 868 vehicles had been confiscated on non payment of motor vehicle tax. He was also informed that the tax amounting Rs. 884004 was recovered from these vehicles . The Minister for E and T Mukesh Kumar Chawla, while showing his satisfaction over on going campaign, directed the officers assigned for the purpose to speed up their efforts and told them that no one was above the law and they should perform their duties without any pressure.
Meanwhile, on the directives of Minister for E and T Mukesh Kumar Chawla, a drive against the drug peddlers is also going on in the Province , and during this campaign a team of Excise and Taxation department Sukkur, searched a car bearing no ADZ 757 on National High Way at Thari Check post and recovered 35 kilogram charas and arrested accused Muhammad Tariq Brohi resident of Quetta. Excise Inspector Ghulam Shabir Matlio has registered a case against the accused and the further investigations are underway.
