Islamabad: The seventh meeting of the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) was held at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, Chairman NBEAC, presided over the meeting cum seminar, organized for Deans of Sindh region to create awareness about the accreditation process. Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Director, IBA Karachi was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Murad briefed the Council members about the needs and challenges to improve the quality of business education. “During the last four years, we have brought the benchmarks at par with international standards and this was only possible with the participation of all business education deans and directors. We have shifted from design phase to implementation phase,” he said.
He also emphasized the need to expedite the accreditation activity by setting the target of 30 institutions accredited before Fall-2012.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ishrat Husain highlighted the requirements and needs of accreditation for stakeholders. “Accreditation is a very positive step taken by HEC to facilitate business school for improvement of quality standards,” he said.
He said, besides international accreditation, IBA would also be applying for accreditation at national level with the NBEAC.
The members underlined the need for holding awareness seminars for Deans nationwide, besides advanced level trainings for assessors and peer reviewer which would help in expediting the accreditation process.
Dr. Murad announced that NBEAC would hold the first national conference of Deans and Directors in collaboration with HEC in summer 2012. He also ensured the support from NBEAC for institutions to apply for accreditation.
Dr. Muhammad Nishat emphasized on the importance of preparing the Self-Assessment Report and also offered the mentoring facility to the business schools.
