Srinagar, January 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, more than 60 new unmarked graves have been discovered in Srinagar and Badgam districts. Jammu and Kashmir Voice of Victims, a non-political organization, releasing its report in Srinagar said that these unmarked graves had been identified in the areas of Nowgam, Wanabal, Shanker pora, Keni hama Chokpora, Kanipora Chokpora, Wagoora, Pahroo, Humhama, Barzulla and Chanapora.
The report added that enforced disappeared persons were killed by the personnel of Indian armed forces and buried in these graves. The Voice of Victims in its report demanded international human rights organizations to pressure India for immediate DNA tests of those buried in these unmarked graves.
Noted human rights activist and Programme Coordinator of the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons, Khurram Parvez appreciated the report. The latest disclosure is an addition to the thousands of unmarked graves exposed in the occupied territory, so far.
The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and an APHC spokesman in their separate statements while expressing concern over the new discovery of unmarked graves urged the international human rights organisations to take cognisance of the matter. They said that such violations of human rights would continue to take place till presence of last Indian trooper in Kashmir.
The veteran leader denounced India and its puppet regime in the occupied territory for not releasing the illegally detained Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt despite court orders. On the other hand, Indian Supreme Court has issued a notice to the authorities on a petition filed by Masarrat Aalam Butt, seeking his immediate release. A contractor was kidnapped and later killed by unidentified gunmen in Pulwama, today.
