Peshawar: The 3rd Quarter 2011 Inter district TB Quarterly Review meeting was held here Friday with Director General Health Services, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the chair. The meeting beside others was also attended by the Project director TB Control Program, all Executive District Officers Health, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, District TB Control Officers, and representative of National TB Control Program.
While presenting an overview of the 3rd quarter 2011, Dr. Ubaid Hussain, Project Director TB Control Program Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shared that Case Notification Rate (CNR) for all cases was 36/100000 while CNR for New Sputum Smear Positive Cases (CNR NSS+ve) at 14/100000 and Treatment Success Rate (TSR) at 95%. A total number of 8329 cases have been registered and treated under Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) by the program during the 3rd quarter 2011.
Applauding the progress of the program, Dr. Sharif Khan, DG Health Services expressed his gratitude on program’s endeavours for sustaining the indicators. He advised that the initiative of Public Private Mix (PPM) should be extended to other districts i.e. Kohat, Swabi, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Battagram to strengthen the program and provide free of cost services to patients receiving TB treatment from private facilities.
While discussing individual performances of each district, the DG Health stressed upon the Executive District Health Officers to facilitate DTOs monitoring and supervision of TB centres.
