39th meeting of Pakistan Science Foundation Board of Trustees

Islamabad: The 39th meeting of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) Board of Trustees (BoT) was held here the yesterday. PSF Chairman Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro presided over the meeting. The Board reviewed the PSF performance during the last six years and highly appreciated its endeavors to promote and popularize science and technology in the country.

The BoT appreciated PSF for its efforts in establishment of ECO Science Foundation with its headquarters in Islamabad, which will act as a catalyst to promote science activities and help promote regional cooperation in this field.

The Board also appreciated signing of MoUs by PSF and its subsidiary organizations PMNH and PASTIC with various national and international organizations for working together for the cause of science and technology development in the country. Some of these agreements include MoU with Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) for poverty alleviation in rural areas through science education, MoU with Aerial Media Services for free of cost airing of science documentaries on TV channels, MoU with CCSTI-France for development of Science exhibitions and some chambers of commerce and industry of the country.

The Board also lauded PSF initiative to use mass media for dissemination of science and technology information in the country and as well as focusing on youth for science popularization activities, especially Science Expos.

The BoT praised the Ministry of Science and Technology for increase in PSF budget and all out support for science and technology promotion and popularization activities. The board directed the foundation to launch bigger projects and invite R and D organizations, universities to undertake research for development of indigenous technology.
