Islamabad, May 21, 2014 (PPI-OT): 35 Young Parliamentary Associates’ (YPAs) were awarded certificates today on the completion of their initial training sessions at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS). The YPAs will be assigned to committees of the Parliament and Senate to provide administrative support to the legislators. They will join their 29 YPA colleagues already working in the Federal Parliament over the past ten months and provide support to parliamentary committees in research and their day to day business.
The YPA initiative is funded through the European Union’s Federal Parliamentary support programme “Improving Parliamentary Performance (IP3). IP3 aims to assist the National Assembly and the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the discharge of their three core functions: legislation, oversight and representation.
