Lahore, November 05, 2012 (PPI-OT): Three matches were played at Punjab Stadium, Lahore on the third day of 2nd Asia Kabaddi Cup 2012.
1 I.R. Iran vs Nepal
2 Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka
3 Pakistan vs India
The opening match proved to be a one sided affair in which Iran Kabaddi Team defeated Nepal Kabaddi Team with outmost ease. The final Score was Iran 72 points and Nepal 27. In the second match of the day Sri Lanka Kabaddi Team surprised Afghanistan Kabaddi Team. The second match was fight for securing fourth position. The final score was Sri Lanka 51 and Afghanistan 42.
The Third match of the day was the most awaited match between arc rivals Pakistan and India . As expected the match started with high pace and Pakistan secure the first 3 points. The Punjab stadium was full of enthusiastic Pakistan team followers. Both the team showed their skills and showed why the match between Pakistan and India is considered as best match on display.
The match came to end when in the second half Indian team refused to continue in the sixteen minute of the match pertaining to the fact one point was awarded against them by match umpire on sending the same raider for two consecutive raids. The scored at that moment was Pakistan 35 and India 31.
The coach and manager of Indian Kabaddi team insisted that the 36th point awarded to Pakistan on the consecutive raids fowl should to cancelled and India Kabaddi Team should be permitted to resend the raider. The umpire refused to accept the request of India coach and manager as the rules do not permit him to allow the request.
So to avoid defeat Indian Kabaddi team refused to continue and the match umpire called the team for continuation but India did not respond to call, so the umpire asked Pakistan to send raider but there was no defender to stop the raid and then India didn’t send the raider too.
Finally when on 2 consecutive calls for continuation no response was received the Umpire awarded the match to Pakistan . The final score was Pakistan 40 and India 31.
The prize distribution ceremony commenced immediately on completion of final match of the day. Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal , Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab , India was Chief Guest of the closing ceremony.
The First Prize was Pak Rupee 1,500,000/- which was awarded to Pakistan and second prize was Pak Rupee 1,000,000/- which was awarded to India and Third prize was awarded to Iran .
Mr. Muhammad Sarwar, Secretary General , Pakistan Kabaddi Federation thanked all the participating teams for coming to Pakistan for participation in 2nd Asia Kabaddi Cup 2012. He also thanked all Government Authorities for extension of support for organization of this prestigious Kabaddi event in Lahore . At the end of his speech he thanked the viewers for there support and coming to stadium to support Pakistan Team.
The prize distribution ceremony ended with awarding of medals and trophies to the winners, runner up, third and fourth positions.
