22% in Pakistan say they use herbal medicine, Joshanda to treat Flu. Gilani Poll/Gallup Pakistan

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan 22% in Pakistan say they use herbal medicine, „Joshanda‟ to treat Flu.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was “What do you usually do to treat flu and fever?” Responding to this 44% claim that they go to a doctor for check-up, 22% claim that they drink Joshanda (a local herbal treatment), 17% claim that they rely on self-medication, 11% claim that they take precautionary measures and 5% claim they simply take rest; whereas 4% do not do anything about it. However 1% did not give a view.

(Note: This was a multiple response question so the percentage sum may exceed 100.)
