21st Chief of the Naval Staff Open Golf Championship will start from 4th August

Islamabad, August 02, 2016 (PPI-OT): The 21st Chief of the Naval Staff Open Golf Championship is being played at Karachi Golf Club from 4 – 7 Aug 16. This was announced during a media brief held at Karachi Golf Club today. The event was declared open by Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Farrokh Ahmed by teeing off at the picturesque golf course.

Earlier in his address, Patron PN Golf (South) Commodore Ali Abbas informed the audience of the details of the tournament. He said that the championship will be held from 4 – 7 August and continues to be the highest prize money golf event of Pakistan offering Rs 6.0 million and in addition Rs 0.5 M for caddies / semi Professional Match of KGC. The championship is open to various categories which include 36 holes each for caddies, semi professionals, senior professionals and junior professionals, 18 holes for seniors and ladies, 9 holes for veterans and 72 holes matches each for Professionals and Amateurs.

Commodore Ali Abbas also highlighted Pakistan Navy’s role in promoting sports at organizational, inter services, national and international levels especially in the fields of Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Squash, Hockey and Golf. He said that the regular conduct of Chief of the Naval staff Open Golf Championship since 1995 is the manifestation of PN’s commitment towards promotion of Golf at National level.
