15 Member Committee to be milestone in resolving minorities’ issues: Chawla

Karachi, October 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that present democratic government is fully aware of the problems of the minorities and President Asif Ali Zardari has constituted 15 member committee to resolve the issues of the minorities. This he said while talking to a delegation of minorities here at his camp office on Tuesday.

He said that the said committee would present recommendations regarding forced change of the religion, eradication of kidnapping of Hindu businessmen for ransom, implementation of five percent quota of minorities in government jobs, Hindu laws for marriage and evacuate illegal possession at religious buildings of minorities and government would strictly enforce the recommendations. He added, ‘In pakistan Constitution the minorities have got complete protection.

They have full freedom to follow their religious rituals and freedom of expression as well.’ Provincial Minister said that the news that Hindus were feeling insecure, were baseless and some certain elements were fanning such news for their ulterior motives.

Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that the members of Hindu community were playing their due role in development of Sindh. No one would deny the importance of minorities’ role in progress of Pakistan. Government was providing full protection to the minorities. On this occasion the members of the delegation showed their pleasure over the measures taken by the government for the welfare of the minorities.
