14 people killed in avalanches in IOK

Srinagar, February 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, 14 people have been killed in snow avalanches in different areas. Eight people including six policemen were killed after an avalanche hit a police post near Jawahar Tunnel on Srinagar-Jammu Highway. There people including a husband wife duo died in two separate incidents of snow avalanche in Sunbradi area of Kokernag in Islamabad district.

A 7-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a snow slide that fell off a rooftop of a house in Chahar village of Sopore in Baramulla district. Two Indian citizens were killed in a landslide in Ramban district along the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The deceased were identified as Pramod Mankotia of Himachal Pradesh and Sanjit Lakara of West Bengal. Meanwhile, the authorities have issued a fresh avalanche warning for avalanche-prone districts of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
