14 days Physical remand of Khalid Lango

The Accountability Court, Quetta granted 14 days remand of Khalid Lango, former Advisor to Chief Minister Balochistan on Finance who was arrested yesterday.

Nab Balochistan had arrested Mr Lango from outside the premises of Balochistan High Court on Wednesday after a pre-arrest bail filed by his counsels, Baz Muhammad Kakar and Farooq H Naik was turned down by the worthy high court division bench.

Former advisor’s arrest was made following his failure to three summons served by NAB for his personal appearance before the NAB team investigating mega corruption case also involving Ex- Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani.

The bureau issued three summoned each on May 11, 12 and 18 May respectively asking former finance advisor to CM to appear before NAB team in Quetta, however the respondent failed to do so. Likewise, he latter replied in writing for appearance on May 23 which again not turned out to be true.

Instead he resorted to Islamabad High Court and got protective bail for 12 days. Later, he appeared before divisional bench of Balohchistan High Court comprising Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Justice Hashim Kakar seeking bail before arrest which was rejected.

NAB Balochistan had earlier arrested secretary finance Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani recovering over Rs 650 million from his residence. In other raids an amount of Rs 5.7 million and other documents were recovered.

Subsequently, contractor Shohail Majeed Shah, facilitator Asad Shah, XEN, Kalat, Tariq Ali, Accountant Khaliqabad Municipal Committee Nadeem Iqbal were also arrested by NAB.

The raids are being conducted for the arrest of other key persons in the mega corruption case.

Three other accused in the corruption scam including ex-secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani are also on remand.

Taking serious note of the issue, shortly after the recovery of the huge amount from the residence of Mushtaq Raisani, provincial government suspended secretary finance , however, Mr Lango resigned from his post saying he is ready to face NAB and wants smooth investigation into the mega corruption case unearth first time in the history of Balochistan.

Meanwhile various teams, under the supervision of Director General NAB Balochistan Major Retired Tariq Mehmood Malik, Nab teams are engaged to probe mega corruption case that also includes embezzlement of billions of Local government and PSDP funds.
