Islamabad: Islamabad police in campaign against absconders and anti-social elements nabbed a total of 1220 proclaimed offenders as well as court absconders, 376 gamblers and 157 beggars during the current year, a police spokesman said.
According to details, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan directed SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik for intensifying campaign against those criminals who are at large and also enhance vigilance against antis-social elements. All police officials were directed to take prompt action against such elements and inform their high ups regularly about it.
During the current year, City Zone police arrested 291 court absconders as well as POs, 94 gamblers and 516 beggars, Saddar Zone police arrested 347 absconder, 79 gamblers and 414 beggars.
Similarly, Industrial Area Zone police nabbed 79 absconders, 27 gamblers, 125 beggars while Rural Zone police arrested 503 absconder, 56 gamblers and 102 beggars during this period.
IGP Bani Amin Khan has instructed police officials that any dereliction of duty to resolve the cases of murder and dacoity would not be tolerated. He has directed to launch further effective crackdown against anti-social elements as well as those criminals who are at large after their involvement in crimes of heinous nature.
