Karachi, May 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Health Department has decided to administer Injectable Polio Vaccine (IPV) to 114,688 children of 177 Union Councils in 13 Districts of the province. This was informed by Special Secretary Public Health Dr. Khalid Hussain Shaikh here today. During this campaign from 13th to 20th May, children between the age of 4 to 23 months would be given IPV he added.
Dr. Khalid further said that during this initiative 48 Union Councils of Hyderabad, 12 of Dadu, 9 of Shaheed Benazir Abad , 6 of Sanghar, 10 of Nausheroferoze, 8 of Sukkur, 6 of Ghotki, 11 of Khairpur, 15 of Jacobabad, 12 of Kamber, 15 of Kashmore, 10 of Larkana and 15 of Shikarpur would be covered. The concerned District Health Officers and the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to submit their respective micro plans by 10th of May 2015, he added.
Dr. Khalid further said that during this campaign 332,429 children upto 5 years of age would be given Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV). The outreach and fixed centres in above Union Councils would operate from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and the social mobilizers would motivate parents to bring their children at these centres. A meeting to review final arrangements in this regard would be held on 10th May, he concluded.
