Karachi, March 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): The 10-day long Waseela-e-Haq training workshop under the aegis of Benazir Income Support Programme concluded here on Saturday successfully.
As many as 66 families from all over the karachi attended the workshop , selected through balloting under Waseela-e-Haq programme of Benazir Income Support Programme.
Speaking on the occasion Director General Benazir Income Support Programme Sindh Zafarullah Soomro also informed that a beneficiaries who have been selected through balloting by President Asif Ali Zardari for grant of interest free loan up to Rs0.3 million so that they could launch their own business and improve socio economic condition of their family members.
It offers Rs.300,000 Lac long term interest free financial assistance; to be recovered in 15 years is issued without any collateral. He said the government had started helping deserving people in education, health, insurance and introduced insurance scheme for the widows who lost their bread earners.
While Speaking at the ceremony Madame Naveeda Warsi, Director BISP Karachi said that Under Benazir Income Support Programme, different projects have been launched by the government aimed to eradicate poverty and improve the socio economic condition of the poor people of the country. The programme is being carried out in transparent manner with availability of all required data of the beneficiaries, she added.
Mr Pervaiz Iqbal Director HQ Said that The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Waseela-e-Haq scheme was formulated with the mission of “Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty through micro loans”. Through this, female beneficiaries from the most marginalized segment of society are selected through a computerized prize- draw, to receive a loan of up to Rs. 300,000 for setting up an enterprise.
In the last DG BISP distributed the certificates amongst the Beneficiaries who have completed their training. BISP Officials and ECI, PPAF officials were present there.
