Yasin Malik concerned over plight of Kashmiri detainees

Srinagar, October 18, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, has expressed concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris who have been languishing in different jails from many decades and despite court orders are not being released.

Muhammad Yasin Malik citing the case of a prisoner from Kotli area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir namely Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari who has completed 22 years of imprisonment in different jails of India and occupied Kashmir said that this JKLF activist was arrested in 1995 and kept in many jails across India. “He was kept in Varanasi Jail for a long time and then shifted to Sangroor Jail from where he has now been shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail. Recently he completed 22 years in jail and despite completing his jail term and court orders to release him, he is not being released and thus illegally kept behind bars,” he deplored.

Yasin Malik said, Syed Sajad Ali is seriously ill in jail and no proper medical facilities are being provided to him which is endangering his life. While condemning this illegal confinement of Syed Sajid Ali, the JKLF Chairman appealed to the International Committee of Red Cross and other human rights organizations to intervene into his matter and save him from the wrath of Indian authorities.
