OIC chief, Kuwaiti FM discuss latest regional, international developments

Kuwait (IINA) � Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah met here on Monday with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation as well as the latest developments in the regional and international arenas, especially the efforts exerted in the fight against terrorism, extremism and Islamophobia. They also underlined the need to highlight the values of Islamic religion of justice, moderation and peaceful coexistence.

Al-Othaimeen reviewed the plans and initiatives of the Secretariat in the coming phase and the preparations for the 44th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) to be held in Abidjan, CAte d’Ivoire, this month and the Islamic Summit on Science and Technology in Astana, Kazakhstan, in September.

For his part, the Kuwaiti official affirmed his country’s support for the OIC’s efforts in various fields. He noted the importance of concerted efforts to address the current challenges faced by the Islamic world.

Also, during the meeting, both sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination on matters of mutual concern.
