NAB committed to root out corruption as eradication of corruption is our national duty

Islamabad, October 03, 2017 (PPI-OT):Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB said that Corruption is mother of all evils. NAB is committed to root out corruption as eradication of corruption is our national duty. NAB is committed to recover looted money from corrupt with iron hands by using all its resources and deposit in national exchequer. He said these remarks while addressing to NAB officers during his farewell visit to NAB Karachi.

The Director General NAB Karachi Muhammad Altaf Bawany in his welcome address said that it is indeed a great pleasure for NAB Karachi to warmly welcome you at NAB Karachi on your farewell visit. I feel proud to inform you that under your dynamic leadership from 2014 to 2017, NAB has geared up and perfected its procedures after taking various initiatives under your able leadership and guidance.

He said that under your leadership, NAB Karachi is actively perusing the cause of elimination of corruption and corrupt practices through a holistic approach of Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board. He said that your valuable and excellent services which you had rendered during your tenure as Chairman in eradication of corruption by burning mid night candles will be written in golden words.

He said that due to this reason, national and international reputable organizations are lauding the performance of NAB under your dynamic leadership. He said that our success as the apex anti-corruption agency inspires us to redouble our efforts in performance of our national duty with professionalism, dedication and commitment to eliminate corruption from our motherland Pakistan in all its forms and manifestations. He said that strong leadership like yours can lead the organizations in the right direction to eradicate corruption by all means with Zero Tolerance. DG NAB Karachi lauded the remarkable services of Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB and the measures he has taken during his tenure as Chairman NAB.

Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB while address to NAB officers said that NAB Karachi has been actively perusing the cause of eradication of corruption and nabbing corrupt through a holistic approach of Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board. He said that today NAB has rejuvenated; strengthened and working with the realization that eradication of corruption is our national duty. He said that our success as the apex anti-corruption agency inspires us to work more vigorously and redouble our efforts to achieve the goal of corruption free Pakistan.

The Chairman NAB said that Corruption is mother of all evils. He said that NAB is absolutely committed to root out corruption in all its forms and manifestations with iron hands. He said that due to number of new initiatives taken during my tenure, PILDAT, Transparency International and World Economic Forum appreciated Pakistan due to NAB efforts. He said that our overall performance remained excellent as compared to other Anti-Corruption Organizations.

He said nation is proud upon you as you are performing your duties even in odd hours with absolutely professionally, transparently according to law. NAB during the last four years, NAB during my tenure has recovered Rs. 50/- billion from corrupt and deposited in the national exchequer which a record achievement as no other Anti Corruption agency in Pakistan has recovered such a huge amount in short span of four years. He said that the figures of complaints, inquiries and investigations are almost double as compared to the same period of 2014 to 2017.

He said that today, NAB is the chairman of SAARC Anti-Corruption Forum. NAB is the only Organization in the world to whom China has signed MoU in order to streamline cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and oversee projects to be undertaken under CPEC. He said that NAB has established its first Forensic Science Lab (FSL) in Islamabad which has facilities of Digital Forensics, Questioned Documents and Fingerprint Analysis. He said that NAB has rationalized its workload and timelines have been prescribed for efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of cases putting a maximum limit of 10 months – from complaint verification-to-inquiry-to-investigation and finally to a reference in the Accountability Court.

He said that NAB has also introduced a new System of Combine Investigation Team (CIT) in order to benefit from the experience and collective wisdom of senior supervisory officers, a system of CIT comprising of Director, Additional Director, Investigation Officer and a Senior Legal Counsel has been put in place. This will not only lend quality to the work but also ensure that no single individual can influence the proceedings. The results of CIT are very encouraging.

The Chairman NAB said that NAB Karachi is one of the important Regional Bureaus of NAB. It has played prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB. He appreciated the performance of NAB Karachi and directed all ranks of officers of NAB Karachi to work more vigilantly, diligently and honestly in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country. He said performance of all wings of NAB Karachi under the supervision of Muhammad Altaf Bawany, Director General NAB Karachi is appreciated and hoped that NAB Karachi will continue its excellent performance in future. Earlier, on arrival in NAB Karachi, Chairman NAB held a meeting with DG NAB Karachi and reviewed guard of honour.
