Mayor of Islamabad signed MoU with Sejong Special Self-governing city

Islamabad, July 06, 2017 (PPI-OT): Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sejong Special Self-governing City, Republic of Korea, Ankara metropolitan Municipality, Republic of Turkey, Brasilia, Federal District, Brazilia and Putrajaya Corporation, Malaysia at the 2017 World Administrative Cities Forum hosted in Sejong, Republic of Korea under the theme of “The Sustainable Development of World Administrative Cities.

Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, Capital Development Authority (CDA) signed the MoU. The cities of Sejong, Ankra, Brazilia, Islamabad and Putrajaya shall form under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) an association, “tentatively called” World, Administrative, Cities, Association (WACA) while respecting the basic purpose of this forum and agreeing to pursue the long term development of the association.

The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to establish a collaborative relationship amongst members cities of Sejong, Ankra, Brazilia, Islamabad and Putrajaya. All of these listed participating cities shall collectively enter into this MoU with the approval of leading and guiding the development of WACA. The proposals at 2017 World Administrative Cities Forum are the base for the preparation and establishment of the WACA.

Detailed terms for the organization and operation shall be disclosed prior to the official launching for the approval of other members. Unless otherwise agreed by the member cities in writing, the city of Sejong shall take full responsibility in launching and operating the association for the first 5 years until it has a stabilized organizational structure.

Meanwhile, any member who wishes to host an upcoming meeting of the WACA may notify its intention in writing for the approval of other members at least six months prior to the meeting. In order to promote mutual exchanges among global administrative cities, people to people exchange in private sectors shall be actively pursued by each member city. The member cities shall exchange experiences as well as challenges and possible solutions in order to jointly lead the development of global administrative cities. All participating cities shall continue to communicate with each other and make further efforts to bring about the development and enrichment of the world’s administrative cities.
