Mayor Karachi launches city wide spray drive

Karachi, July 05, 2017 (PPI-OT):Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar launched city-wide fumigation drive in Karachi. He filled the spray machine with insecticide before start of spray in Mehmoodabad on Tuesday. The Deputy Mayor Karachi Dr Arshad Vohra, MNA Ali Raza Abidi, Chairman DMC East Moeed Anwer, Vice Chairman Abdul Rauf Khan and others were also present on thsi occasion. Later while talking to media Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said this campaign would be carried out from 4th to 19th July during which spray vehicles would perform spray in all union councils of a district.

In all 50 spray vehicles will be used in this drive that has been conducted with the coordination of district municipal administration. He said heaps of garbage and waste caused spread of diseases like chiken gonia, malaria and diarrhea, today spray is being done in Mehmoodabad and Surjani Town to save the people from these diseases.

He called this commendable the way rain water cleared from city roads after recent rains in Karachi. Mayor Karachi said the solid waste management board was responsible for worst sanitary conditions in the city as all six districts of Karachi transformed into heaps of garbage. He said not rains but sewage accumulated on roads and streets caused spread of various diseases. He said Apex Committee was a joke with Karachi as Mayor Karachi should be in it to have the representation of the city.
