Islamabad, August 21, 2017 (PPI-OT): Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Takashi Kurai called on National Security Adviser Lt. General (R) Nasser Khan Janjua this morning. The two discussed matters of mutual interests, regional connectivity, security challenges and the emerging tense security situation in Korean peninsula. The Ambassador briefed about the emerging threats in the Korean peninsula and about the new UNSC resolutions regarding North Korea which had imposed stricter restrictions on DPRK.
NSA shared the concern about security situation in Korean Peninsula and assured the Ambassador that Pakistan like always will abide by the UNSC resolution. He also emphasised that the tension in Korean peninsula should be mitigated by using political and diplomatic means/channels.
Referring to bilateral relationship NSA highlighted the advantages and benefits which Japan could reap from regional connectivity using friendly Pakistan as its joint economic/industrial hub and could contribute in peace and stability of the region. NSA also apprised the Ambassador about Pakistan’s efforts to forge cooperative relations with all its neighbours on the basis of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Both sides agreed to enhance the bilateral cooperation in multiple areas.
