IOK authorities warned against continued repression

Srinagar, July 14, 2017 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has warned the puppet authorities of serious consequences if they continued to suppress the legitimate political aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said that true heirs of the martyrs of 13th July 1931 were arrested or detained by the puppet authorities and disallowed to go to the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar to pay homage to them. This attitude of the authorities has no constitutional or moral justification and it is also not a wise step if the consequences are kept in mind, they said.

The statement said that the resistance leaders attempted to march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard according to the already announced programme. “However, the puppet authorities used force to stop them. Syed Ali Gilani came out of his residence at Hyderpora even as the lane leading to his house was blocked with barbed wire. However, he briefly addressed a few media persons and later released the video. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was whisked away by the police shortly after coming out from his residence and later detained at Nigeen police station. Muhammad Yasin Malik was already under detention,” it added.

The resistance leaders lambasted the leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Conference (NC) and other pro-India parties who visited the Martyrs’ Graveyard under the cover of Indian Army and police to fulfill a formality of paying obeisance to the martyrs of 1931. “This is an exhibition of deceitful politics and has no moral justification,” they said, adding that these parties had reneged with the martyrs’ mission in 1938 and abandoned their path. “To convert Muslim Conference into National Conference was the first step to sabotage the mission of 1931 martyrs, they said.

The resistance leaders said that the pro-India parties continued to be on the mission of subverting Islam and sacrifice the interests of Kashmiri people for their power and chair. The Hurriyat leaders said that the actual goal of the martyrs, for which they sacrificed their lives, was yet to be achieved. “Even after 86 years, the Kashmiris have not achieved their freedom. Their lives and property are not safe and secure. Our blood is spilled like water and right to freedom is suppressed with brute exhibition of force,” they said.
