Islamabad, October 06, 2017 (PPI-OT):Pakistan’s High Commissioner – designate to Malaysia Mr. Mohammed Nafees Zakaria called on Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in his chamber at the Parliament House, today. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq lauded Mr. Zakaria’s services in promoting better relations with various countries and promoting country’s national interest. He also appreciated his performance as Spokesperson of Foreign Affairs and admired his efforts for highlighting Kashmir issue effectively.
In this context, the Speaker also appreciated the assistance that the High Commissioner-designate extended to the Members of Young Parliamentary Forum (YPF) and others in the activities undertaken by them for the promotion of Pakistan’s national objectives. With regard to relations with Malaysia, the Speaker said that there is ample scope of cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan, particularly the economic sector.
He said that like Pakistan, Malaysia is also rapidly developing country and both the countries can benefit from each other’s experiences. The Speaker said that there is greater need for the enhanced exchange of the Parliamentary delegations and people to people contact. He asked him to utilize his diplomatic experience to further improve the relations with Malaysia by presenting true and beautiful colours of Pakistan and highlight prospects for trade and investment in Pakistan.
He expressed hope that the High Commissioner-designate would succeed in further strengthening the existing fraternal relations between the two countries. High Commissioner-designate, Mr. Nafees Zakaria said that Pakistan and Malaysia have enjoy cordial relations and he would particularly strive for enhancing people to people interaction, exchange of parliamentary delegations and finding out venues to increase trade and investment between the two countries. He underlined that enhancing Pakistan’s trade and economic cooperation with Malaysia will be his top priority. He said that sizeable Pakistani community in Malaysia is an asset and he would work towards welfare of the Diaspora there and galvanize their energies towards promoting Pakistan’s economic objectives.
