Federal Ombudsman Office resolved 30,804 complaints against SUI Southern and SUI Northern Gas Companies in last three years

Islamabad, January 04, 2017 (PPI-OT):The Federal Ombudsman Office has resolved 30,804 complaints against Sui Southern and Sui Northern Gas Companies and has taken the cognizance of the miseries of about thousands of consumers during the last three years. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis said that these complaints are related to grievances raised by the complainants generally against illegal inflated bills, low gas pressure and non issuance of demand notices for new Gas connections throughout country.

Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis further said that systemic issues, including timely and correct reading of Gas meters, wrong issuance of bills, violations of OGRA instructions and refusal of timely new connections have also been taken and redressed.

He said that majority of complaints have been decided in favor of complainants and maladministration was adjudged against these companies in these complaints. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis said against findings of the Federal Mohtasib, only 355 representations are filed before the President of Pakistan, amongst these 112 have been decided and the President was pleased to upheld the findings of Wafaqi Mohtasib in 58 cases.

Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis further said that the efforts of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Office in amelioration of miseries of the consumers has been highly appreciated by the citizens of Pakistan and the office has received many letter of thanks issued in this behalf and now are complaints being decided in 45 days which is unprecedented in any quasi judicial system.

Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis said that in 2016 97 thousands complaints were filed in federal ombudsman secretariat against maladministration of govt agencies and out of them more than 94 thousands have been decided.
