Karachi, July 19, 2017 (PPI-OT):Sindh Livestock and Environment Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani has said that the climate change is one of the Global problem which affects not only the under developed countries like Pakistan, but it should severely affected the Country as whole. This he said while presiding over a media briefing and Educational Seminar Launching of Guide Book on Climate Change Finance-GCCF organized by Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors held at local hotel here today.
The Minister Environment Muhammad Ali Malkani has said that the issue of climate change is a serious for all of us, and it would be better to understand that, how to handle it properly for the better environment conditions. The government of Sindh is making all out efforts to work jointly to resolve the issue and minimize the damages. He said that through availability of this guide book, is helping the proper knowledge, for media personnel and journalist community to aware the public in this regard to highlight the challenges faced by the Pakistan and discussed the economic impact too.
He said that we all know that media had an important role to formulate any policy and guide lines as the Government is doing a lot for the betterment of people and initiated a development program it should be keep in mind that all programs must be environment friendly and public oriented prior to change situation we protect the financial measures which directly affect the climate change.
The Minister Environment Muhammad Ali Malkani hoped that CPNE will polish their media personnel professionally for proper information and awareness of general public in this regard, the Government is extending all possible help to CPNE. He appreciates the efforts of UNDP and CPNE for preparing a Guide Book about the subject.
The Minister Environment has said that after devolution and 18th amendment, environment will be provincial subject, Federal Government has promised to provide matching grand but yet not to be fulfilled its promise. Through concrete steps we are functionalize environment department will setup 10 district offices to implement the environmental issues and follow the law to pertaining to climate change and environment.
We should all collectively play our due role, depending not only on the government to resolve the environmental and climate change issues but create an environment friendly society. The Secretary Environment Baqaullah Unner was apprised the participants about the steps taken by him in short span of time, for the betterment and implementation of environmental laws and issues.
He also stressed the need of collective work for the achieving the desire result for environment change and climate issues. He asked the Civil Society and Media to play their role in this regard. Dr. Jabbar Khatak, Amir Mehmood Vice President CPNE Sindh, Rafiul Haq, Asad Abbas Mackin and Mr. Keith Conlan UNDP Consultant were also spoke and briefed the participant about climate change and its effect on Pakistan.
