Karachi, February 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):KMC Administrator Sajjad Hussain Abbasi has given approval of the sanctioning of Rs2.5million annual grant to the Rs5million welfare fund established by the KMC Officers Welfare Association for the welfare of officers and their family and to allocate this sum in the budget of KMC for which a resolution has also been approved. This is first time in the KMC history that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation set aside a separate fund for KMC officers.
The fund would be used for providing immediate financial help and support for educational, marital and medical expenditures of the officers and their family members and in case of their accidental death or death after prolong illness. In the resolution the KMC Officers Welfare Association has been made bound to utilize this amount only for the welfare of officers as accordance to the procedure adopted for this.
The Association would itself arrange for the remaining amount in the fund and also compile the bye laws for this fund which would be approved by the executive committee and then the general body. A three member committee was also been established for this purpose chaired by the director council Ghufran Ahmed with Dr. Saleem Bholawala and legal advisor Azra Muqeem as its members. The committee has been given the task to submit the bye laws to the executive committee after preparing it within 15 days.
